Project update

Just wanted to post an update on my current project blog. So far it has been about 5 weeks and I have been able to post one article every week. Its pretty fun so far and can't wait till it catches on a little more. You can check it out at the links below I will link all the articles to date.

If anyone has suggestions for topics or something they want to see feel free to let me know and I'd be happy to try to write a post about it. Remember these are my opinions and thoughts/experience with these subjects. Writing like this is new to me so over time I will improve and bring you even more awesome content.

TinType Project

Today I downloaded the app TinType by Hipstamatic to play around with. It actually makes some neat photos. I have had a couple tintypes made of myself in years past with my Civil War re-enactment unit so I have seen how they are done and what they look like. I have decided to start a little project to challenge myself to take some cool photos with this app. I'll probably post them here and on my Instagram page. Here are a few samples of what it can do. One is just plain B&W, the next has a yellowing effect, and the last is in color.

Two Day Time-Lapse

I decided to put my GoPro outside to try to catch the sunrise. I rigged it to an extension cord so it would have a constant power source so the battery would not die mid way through. It worked and when I got up decided to leave it out there for two days instead of just overnight.

The only issue was I ended up reading the app on my phone wrong and positioned it facing the wrong direction. Otherwise it worked and the GoPro lasted and could have gone longer if I wanted it too. I had it set for one shot every 10 seconds for the total of 16,931 pictures.

(sorry for the long video, I'll cut any more long ones down in the future)

Snow Time Lapse of Winter Storm Thor

The biggest winter storm to hit the East Coats this year named Thor. Since it was my day off what better way to spend it by putting my GoPro out in the storm and seeing what it can do.
The only downside to it being out there is that it got snow on the housing and during the TL you see it as drops that do roll off.
Still it was a fun experiment and also while it was shooting gave me time to look up more about iMovie.
This whole video and intro/ending was made in iMovie. I was my first attempt at using a Mac video editor. All the other videos before this one were done on a windows editor.

So sit back and enjoy.

If you are interested in the GoPro like I used, check out this link to get one yourself. Its worth it IMO.
