Blue Moon Photo

Ok so lastnight I took some pictures of the "blue moon". Nothing blue about it, but it was a full moon anyway. I used both my D800 and D5200 along with my 300mm f/4. I think the D5200 beat out the D800. Might be due to the crop factor, so it gave me a bit more reach. Either way I had to crop the photos to get them to look like this. So here they are.

Blue Moon

So tomorrow 7/31/15 there is suppose to be a "blue moon". I can't say I have ever seen one, but I do hope I will be able to not only see one, but photograph it. Here is some info on the blue moon and if I do capture it tomorrow I will post some pics for all to see. http://www.businessinsider.com/blue-moon-friday-july-31-2015-7

186th PHS Philadelphia Flower Show 2015

These were taken at the 186th PHS Philadelphia Flower Show on Sunday March 8th, 2015. I went to the flower show not knowing what to expect and boy do I know what not to do next year. Never go on the weekend especially when its the last day of the show. There was some serious crowds there. Other then that and getting shoved all around it was a nice day.
These shots were all taken with my Nikon D800 and my new lens Nikon 24-70mm. So far I like how the lens handles. Though I should have tried it out more before going there. It preformed fine, but I still wasn't use to it.

Sad Day

So this morning my grandmother passed away. We saw it coming so it wasn't a big surprise.

The thing that hurts is that the last day where she was really "there" was thanksgiving. The problem is due to my retail job I had to work that day (Black Friday which started on Thursday) so I wasn't able to go see my family. So due to that I missed my last opportunity to see her in good health.

So I am more determined then ever to get out of retail and into photography 100%. I know it won't happen right away, but I will make it happen somehow.

Film Camera Project

So I have my dads old Canon AE-1, 35mm film camera. He is not using it anymore due to he has a digital SLR. So I went out and tracked down a battery (found it at radio shack) and some Kodak 400 color film (found at CVS). The only problem with the film is it expires January 1, 2015 so I have to take 72 photos (3 rolls x25) before the end of the year. I'm sure I can do that lol. The other problem with film is getting it processed. So I found a place that is pretty close to me that seems to still do it Allens Camera in Levittown, PA from listening to Raw Talk on froknowsphoto.com.

So for only $30 I was able to get this camera working. Now to see what I can do with it. Once I take all the shots I'll get them developed and post them here.
